GRE 3-Month Study Plan – Week-by-Week Schedule Template

Month 1: Build Your Foundation

Week 1

  • Take a full-length diagnostic test
  • Review GRE format and scoring
  • Start basic math review (arithmetic, algebra)
  • Begin daily vocabulary practice (20-30 words/day)
  • Read 2 long articles (e.g., science or humanities topics)

Week 2

  • Continue math fundamentals (geometry, data interpretation)
  • Study Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence strategies
  • Vocabulary practice (continue)
  • Write 1 Issue Essay and 1 Argument Essay
  • Practice 2 reading comprehension passages

Week 3

  • Advanced math topics: percentages, ratios, probability basics
  • Focus on Reading Comprehension question types
  • Vocabulary practice (continue)
  • Practice writing 1 Issue and 1 Argument essay
  • Take a section-wise mini mock test (Verbal and Quant)

Week 4

  • Review mistakes and weak areas from Week 3
  • Mixed math problem sets (timed practice)
  • Vocabulary review and quiz yourself
  • Analyze 2 sample essays
  • Take a full-length practice test (simulate real conditions)

Month 2: Build Mastery and Strategy

Week 5

  • Focus on Quantitative Comparison and Data Interpretation
  • Learn test-taking strategies (time management, elimination)
  • Vocabulary practice (new words + review)
  • Write 1 Issue and 1 Argument essay
  • Practice 3 RC passages (timed)

Week 6

  • Strengthen weak math topics (e.g., probability, coordinate geometry)
  • Practice Sentence Equivalence drills
  • Vocabulary review with quizzes
  • Take a mini practice test (Verbal + Quant only)
  • Review and analyze mistakes carefully

Week 7

  • Focus on problem-solving speed and accuracy
  • Start practicing GRE mixed question sets
  • Vocabulary (continue + review)
  • Practice timed essay writing (30 min strict timing)

Week 8

  • Take a full-length GRE practice test
  • Analyze results: Focus on time lost + mistakes
  • Build a “cheat sheet” of tough vocab words and formulas
  • Light review of best GRE strategies learned so far

Month 3: Refine and Simulate

Week 9

  • Full-length test #2
  • Analyze and focus on accuracy under time pressure
  • Review hardest math and verbal question types
  • Write and time 2 full essays this week

Week 10

  • Target specific weak spots (Quant formulas, tricky RCs)
  • Vocabulary practice (final push)
  • Simulate Verbal-only and Quant-only sections separately

Week 11

  • Full-length test #3
  • Detailed error analysis
  • Review formulas, vocab, strategies lightly
  • Focus on essay outlining to speed up writing

Week 12

  • Light review week: Cheat sheets, flashcards, quick drills
  • Take final full-length test #4
  • Prepare test day kit (ID, snacks, location plan)
  • Relax, sleep well, and trust your preparation!
